Behavior Expectations

It is expected that all students conduct themselves in a manner that supports the educational process and demonstrate the life skills and code of conduct.  By maintaining a high expectation of conduct for all students, an optimal learning environment will be achieved.  Students ARE NOT to bring toys, sporting equipment, electronic devices, handheld games, etc. to school.  All necessary playground equipment will be supplied.   Should students choose to bring nuisance items to school parents are welcome to retrieve the items from the office.  Students who choose to bring toy weapons or replicas of weapons, or items that can be used as a weapon will be treated as authentic weapons and subject to CCSD disciplinary actions.  Cell phones must be kept in the off position and secured in the students backpack. The video/camera function of the cell phone is not permitted during any part of the school day.  At no time will cell phone usage be permitted during the instructional day.

Bullying/Cyber Bullying

The Clark County School District and McMillan have a zero tolerance level for acts of bullying, physical aggression, and harassment.  Bullying is any verbal, visual, or physical conduct that is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive that it adversely affects or has the purpose or logical consequence of interfering with the student’s educational program or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive school atmosphere. Cyber Bullying is the use of any technology communication device to willfully cause harm to another person such as spreading rumors, posting harmful messages, uploading offensive videos, and sending harmful messages to a mass audience.

While many types of conduct may show evidence of bullying, common types include, but are not limited to: unwanted touching, blocking a person’s normal movements, threats, slurs, epithets, verbal abuse, derogatory comments, drawings, pictures gestures, unwelcome jokes, teasing, propositions, graphic comments about an individual’s body, spreading rumors about a person, purposefully limiting a person’s access to educational tools, displaying sexually suggestive objects in the educational environment, or any act of retaliation against an individual who reports a violation.
